data
This is the name given to information of a quantitative nature.
It’s a collection of facts, such as numbers and measurements.
We can count or measure most things in one way or another, for example by conducting a survey.
The table opposite shows the data collected whilst conducting a survey to find out the favourite colour of 20 children.
Discrete data is the name given to data that is a result of counting things, and continuous data is the name given to data that is a result of taking measurements.
