natural number

This is the name given to whole numbers from 1 upwards: 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on.

Natural numbers do not include negative numbers or fractions.

0 is considered to be a natural number in some areas of mathematics.

A set of natural numbers is usually denoted by Ν in one of two ways:

    N = 1, 2, 3, 4, …

or

    N = 0, 1, 2, 3, …
