The noun ‘image’ has two meanings:

(1) This is the term for the location of a shape after using a transformation or a combination of transformations.

For example, in the picture opposite, R is the image of the triangle T after it has been reflected in the line x = –2.

(2) The output of a function for a specific input, or for a specific domain.
