This is the result of multiplying a number by an integer.

Think about the numbers in the five times table:

    5, 10, 15, 20, 25, …

These numbers are all called multiples of 5.

Here are more examples:

    • 14 is a multiple of 7, as 7 × 2 = 14

    • 49 is a multiple of 7, as 7 × 7 = 49

    • 70 is a multiple of 7, as 7 × 10 = 70

    • –21 is a multiple of 7, as 7 × –3 = –21

Therefore, 14, 49, 70 and –21 are all multiples of 7.
