numeral

This is a symbol used to represent a number.

There are two types of numeral.

(1) Roman numerals:

I = 1

V = 5

X = 10

L = 50

C = 100

D = 500

M = 1000

(2) Hindu-Arabic numerals, namely the numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. This is the type used most commonly today.
