proportional change

Proportional is used in the context of discussing two quantities which share a constant relationship.

For example, the length and weight of a piece of wood are proportional.

A piece of wood measuring 10 m weighs 2 kg, therefore:

    • A piece of wood measuring 20 m weighs 4 kg

    • A piece of wood measuring 100 m weighs 20 kg, and so on.
