golden ratio

Sign = φ

This geometric relationship is shown on the left-hand side of the screen.

A golden ratio has a value approximately equal to 1.618.

It can be seen in geometry, art, architecture and other areas.

It is found when we divide a line into two parts. A line is divided according to the golden ratio if dividing the longer part by the shorter part is equal to the whole length divided by the longer part.

Imagine that a line measures 100 cm. It’s divided into two parts – 61.8 cm a 38.2 cm. Dividing the longer part by the shorter part is equal to the whole length divided by the longer part:

    \dfrac{61.8}{38.2} = \dfrac{61.8 + 38.2}{61.8} = 1.618 = φ

This, therefore, shows that the line is divided according to the golden ratio.
